About Wira AI

Our Story

Skills Shaped Slowly,
and Shaped Well

Wira AI began with one question: why is it so hard to learn AI without getting lost in jargon, rushed timelines, or courses that skip the hard parts?

Our Background

Where Wira AI Came From

Wira AI was started in Kuala Lumpur in 2021 by a small group of developers and educators who had each spent years working with machine learning in production environments. They noticed that most available courses either moved too fast or stayed too surface-level — leaving learners with certificates but not the confidence to apply anything.

The name "Wira" comes from the Malay word for hero or champion. It reflects the belief that learning something genuinely difficult is an act of courage — and that the right environment makes that courage easier to summon.

The school opened its first cohort in January 2022 with twelve learners. Since then, it has grown steadily — but deliberately. Class sizes have stayed small, feedback has stayed personal, and the curriculum has stayed close to the real tools that working engineers and analysts actually use.

Our Mission

What We Are Here to Do

Wira AI exists to give Malaysian learners — and anyone in the region who is ready to put in the work — access to structured, honest AI education. Not courses designed to look impressive in a portfolio. Programmes designed to change what you can actually do.

We are not trying to produce the most graduates. We are trying to produce learners who understand what they built and why it works.

Our Values

  • Steadiness over speed — the kiln pace, not the microwave
  • Honesty in the curriculum — we include the hard parts
  • Personal attention — every learner gets real feedback
  • Local relevance — examples drawn from Malaysia and the region

The People

Who Teaches and Guides

Our instructors come from industry, not academia. They have shipped models, debugged production pipelines, and explained the same concept twelve different ways until it landed.

AZ

Ahmad Zulkifli

Lead Instructor — AI & ML

Ahmad spent eight years building recommendation systems for a regional e-commerce platform before joining Wira AI. He leads the Machine Learning Track and Deep Learning Studio.

NR

Nurul Rasyidah

Programme Director

Nurul designs the learning experience across all three tracks. She has a background in instructional design and spent four years at a Kuala Lumpur tech training centre before founding Wira AI alongside Ahmad.

KV

Kavitha Venugopal

Instructor — Python & Data

Kavitha runs the AI Foundations track and the weekly clinics. She has a strong background in data analysis and writes clearly — which makes her especially effective with learners who are new to code.

Standards

How We Hold Ourselves Accountable

These are the practices we apply to every cohort — not as a checklist but as habits built over three years of running programmes.

Curriculum Review

We review and update course content before each cohort intake. If a library or technique has become outdated, it comes out. If something new is worth knowing, we add it carefully.

Structured Feedback

Every project submission gets written instructor notes within three business days. Feedback focuses on reasoning and approach, not just whether the output ran correctly.

Data Privacy

Learner data is kept on secure servers and not shared with third parties for marketing. We follow Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in how we collect and store information.

Cohort Size Limit

We cap each cohort at a size where every learner can receive individual attention. If a track fills up, we run another intake rather than stretch the class.

Completion Certificate

Learners who complete all assignments and a final project receive a Wira AI completion certificate. This reflects work done, not just enrolment.

Outcome Tracking

We follow up with cohort graduates six months after completion to understand what they went on to do. This informs future curriculum decisions and keeps us honest about results.

Our Approach

AI Education That Fits the Way Adults Actually Learn

Most working professionals in Malaysia who want to develop AI skills face a specific challenge: they are already busy, they have real jobs and responsibilities, and they cannot afford to spend months on material that will not pay off. Wira AI was built with this reality in mind.

Our three tracks — AI Foundations, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning Studio — are sequenced so a learner can move from knowing nothing about Python to deploying a neural network model, but only at the pace that makes sense for their situation. Nobody is pushed to rush. Nobody is expected to sacrifice sleep to keep up with a cohort that moves faster than they can.

The "kiln" idea that runs through everything we do comes from the belief that real skills — the kind that hold up under pressure — need time and heat applied steadily, not all at once. A pot that dries too fast cracks. A model that was trained without understanding the underlying data will fail in production. We take the time because the time is part of the work.

Wira AI operates from Kuala Lumpur and serves learners across Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian region. All programmes run in English and use datasets and case studies drawn from local industries — finance, logistics, retail, and public sector — so the learning feels immediately applicable rather than abstracted.
